Pause.  Exhale through your nose counting until your lungs are empty. Pause. Continue inhaling fully and exhaling fully until a full breath breathing rhythm is established.

Nutritional Advice:  You can get your greens!  Just throw a bunch of spinach into your morning smoothie.  My Shaklee shakes often carry an extra punch with my favorite fruit like pineapple, or berries and as much spinach as I can get into the blender, then, I add the coconut milk (my preference) to the mix and get a very nutritious start to my day.

Essential Oil Blend for your Wellness this week is Eucalyptus and Mint.  This blend is good for your breathing, muscles, skin and hair.   It is refreshing and gives a sense of well-being.

My Personal Goo Roo’s Story – Why I created Goo Roo’s Marketplace …….How to help people?

Real Yoga

I really believe I was supposed to share yoga and Goo Roo’s with you.  It has been a very personal journey so I will share the very personal story.  Today my “yoga-lifestyle” is a process of letting go of things that no longer serve me and incorporating things that do. Resisting unhealthy foods like soda pop, toxic people like old acquaintances who only add negativity to the mix, and bad ways of thinking about my world and myself.  I call it the Goo Roo’s Lifestyle – EAT WELL, BE WELL AND DO YOGA!

I started my adult life studying to be a Psychologist. The learning was great. I loved college, but, as time went on and the studies moved from physiology and theory to actual case study and medication, well, let me just say, “How Depressing!” Along with this theological struggle I was having a lot of medical issues myself. These disorders and diseases had plagued my 20s and 30s. Surgeries on my knees and “girl parts” helped, but, I still didn’t feel great.

I felt like a hypocondriac. I limited my activities around pain in my knees, hips, back, shoulder, and ankles for years. Female Problems were a huge factor in my not feeling well, as well as, Chronic Bursitis. Oh ya, I also, smoked cigarettes! I would ask my mom, “Why I have all these problems?” She usually attributed it to my being born two months early. Later, however, after reading a lot of personal growth books and magazine articles, I decided it had more to do with Fate and what life was teachinng me.  I was to share what I learned. (I hope I have learned enough about the difficulties that make you grow as a person, because, I am not sure I could take much more growing. LOL)

Life has hit me hard many times, and yet, it has given me many rich gifts. Some for too short a time. I had a beautiful baby girl named, Lindsey, when I was 21 years old. She died of SIDS when she was one month and two days old. This loss devastated my family. Her daddy took off and married a girl he just met very soon after we discovered I was pregnant. [This pregnancy was a big surprise to us, because, I had just had a surgery that supposedly made my chances of conceiving very low…] I was better off without that guy.

Within a week I changed majors and got a job as fast as I could. My money was zero and the rent was due. MORN LATER WORK NOW. I knew the crazy busy was just a coping mechanism, but, it helped keep me working toward my goal and got me out with society again. When I graduated from college with a BA in Business Administration, I set for Boise, Idaho to live out my dream of becoming a business consultant. Two months in I discovered my boss and owner of the company, that I moved hundreds of miles to work for, was a con artist. I never got paid. Depresses and depleted, I was determined to beat that city, so, after struggling for 9 months to get any job, even resorting to lying on applications so I wouldn’t be “over qualified,” I finally got a good job. I didn’t apply for this job, however. I made an appointment with the President of the company I wanted to work for. I told him what my career aspirations were and how I thought his company would fall into those aspirations as a stepping stone. He hired me on the spot! Geez, if, I knew it was that easy I would have done that at Hewlett Packard or Micron the first day I was in town!

In college and high school the academics were never a problem. Getting around on legs that were full of bursitis and debilitating female problems made life hard. Boyfriends who did not treat me like I had value and an unplanned pregnancy that ended in the death of my one month old daughter to SIDS, were really difficult things to deal with. It’s probably good that I took all those Psych classes, ha ha. When I was 23 I was feeling better about my life, having finally found a job I could grow in. Home life, not so much…. but, since 25 years have passed since then, I won’t go into the details. I will tell you that I moved back to my home town and got another job and met my life-mate, Dean. I have been on one great and sometimes stormy adventure since I met and married him. Our romance was a fast one we got engaged three weeks after we met and married four months later. Three years later, God gave us Dane and my life has been so filled with these men and all the people I have met since then. Dane is grown now and off to the same university himself. How blessed is that!

To live fuller, I made to decision to take control of my health. On my thirtieth birthday I finally took my grandma’s advice and started doing yoga. I really try to do it every day. My life has never been the same since I started using this amazing tool for wellness. In control, happy and Fit! Ten years later, I went to see my doctor. She helped me quit smoking CIGARETTES! I went to my other doctor and she gave me a hysterectomy (we didn’t know I needed I one so badly!) A year after that I started using Shaklee products to Shakleeize my home. I became a certified yoga instructor about 6 years ago to better share it’s many benefits. So, as I was making my way through this interesting life jetboating up raging rivers to our cabin on the Snake River or doing aileron rolls over wheat fields with my husband and father-in-law in a Split Tail Bonanza or recovering from the devastation of our home burning to the ground, I have learned a lot and met some really smart and generous people. Travel, shopping, meeting artisans, innovators, love of learning, groovy friends,  diverse interests and talents are all reflected in the things we offer. This website and business is an expression of that learning, especially, in the realm of the body, mind and spirit. You are invited to share in our journey as we continue to seek, to learn and to share REAL YOGA. Namaste.
