Begin each day or activity with a purpose. What is your intention? Picture your desired outcome. Do one of our visualization meditations on your ideal day….to get your intention, if, you are having trouble narrowing it down . Set up routines and practices to help fulfill your intention. For, example, if, your intention is to practice Sun Salutation every morning, schedule it in, set your alarm for the time to go practice and have your space, clothing and mat ready for the designated yoga practice. Plan to Succeed takes an actual plan. Don’t plan and you will likely fail. That means, you won’t reach your objectives because you will be open to procrastinate, reschedule and eventually just skip it.
Part of our daily yoga practice involves incorporating Ayurvedic Principles to our daily life. Careful choices in our diet, practicing non-harming and good hygiene are a very integral to creating a Zen Lifestyle. According to SarahBeth Yoga Blog ” Your inner world is a reflection of your outer world. Make your bed.” What I believe she is getting at here is – be neat. Organizing your stuff and making your bed will declutter your space and give you a sense of accomplishment to begin the day with. Uncluttering your space creates an uncluttered mind. A clear mind will operate so much more effectively. Ultimately, your stress levels go down.
HERE IS A PRACTICAL APPLICATION EXERCISE FOR THIS WEEK:
PLAN TO SUCCEED – for the day or week by.
- Plan out your Meals For the Week. As you know, I use the Life Shakes to simplify this. Two Shakes a Day, 3 Snacks a Day and a Sensible Delicious Evening Meal.
- Plan out your Clothes for Work, Leisure and Exercise. It is so helpful to have these items planned out, washed, pressed and ready for the week. Getting ready for the day can be a no brainer when you do this on Sunday afternoon.
- Plan out your Money (google the zero balance budget) Love It. Here is the gist of it. I use it in a kind of game like atmosphere. First, add up your monthly Income. Second, List and Total your Actual Monthly Bills and Payments. Third, list the actual List Of What You Will Be Buying This Month. List your food, fuel, recreational, and other things like booze and scratch tickets, if, you know you are going to purchase them. Take the total income, subtract the other two totals and find your amount of gap between income and expenses. Gap can be used to save for raining day or pay down debt, or other things you need. You may find as I have that this becomes a game. I love to save on some expenses and put the money toward credit card debt or other things. Try it you may find the stress of budget is a lot less. You will be more MINDFUL OF YOUR SPENDING, to be sure.
Meditate Every Morning for at least a few minutes. THIS IS LIFE CHANGING. Breathe in and out in a quiet space it is good for you, clearing and quieting your mind is optional.
Get moving in the morning. Mindful movement is also good for you, too. That is why you are HERE doing yoga.
To truly find your Zen you must cut out the noise for a little time each day, even a whole day is great. Remove all the bombardment of sounds from television, devices, radio and just listen to the stillness. This will help you sort your thoughts, give you brain space to practice fun visualizations, listen to the fountain you made, think, or to just do nothing and breathe.
