This month our yoga practice has been working through Primal Movement Theory introduced to me by a great teacher named Annie Adamson. In class I often call this kind of movement “yummy movements or yummy stretches.” – DEEP EXAGGERATED CAT COW STRETCHES – HAPPY BABY WITH DEEP HIP SOCKET EXPLORATION – DOWNWARD FACING DOG THAT JUST CONNECTS –
With respect to nutrition there has been some fun had by all in the kitchen while we tried Shaklee recipes for life shake blueberry pancakes, frozen creamy fruit treats, and Forget The Diet Brownies!
Many cool crisp mornings have found me moving slow with stiffness. One magical day in October things change and the inflammation is just there. When I was making progress with it I find that the weather has a major impact and I will have to up my game and change strategies. Two things won’t change, however, that is movement and nutritional support. I know my joints won’t lubricate themselves, I must move. I also know that using Shaklee supplements has a direct effect on how I feel and move. I never skip the foundation of wellness – daily yoga practice and my personal health plan through healthy nutrition. After I have done these things I am on the road to being my “normal self” and can move about my day with more energy and vitality.
Lately, I have had to incorporate Shaklee Recover and Performance Products to my regime because I am sore from teaching so many yoga classes! Yeah! It wasn’t so long ago, after an auto accident that I thought I may never do yoga again.
In our Beginner’s Yoga Class this week we are working on the Seven Moving Principles of Yoga working them into our posture practice and slow deliberate vinyasa flow. This is best explained by Donna Farhi in your book, Yoga Body Mind and Spirit – A Return To Wholeness.
- BREATHE – Let your breath move you.
- YIELD – Yield to the Earth with weight and levity.
- RADIATE – Move from the inside out.
- CENTER – Maintain the integrity of the spine as a central axis.
- SUPPORT – Establish a foundation of support ands structural building blocks.
- ALIGN – Create clear lines of force, alignment and sequential flow.
- ENGAGE – Engage the entire body.
Return to Original Silence.
You can try incorporation of these elements into your life and LYL.
