POSTURE – Warrior II – Proud Warrior (Vahadrasana) is my favorite Warrior posture also known as Warrior II. Proud Warrior brings stability to practice by strengthening the legs, and opening the hips. Stand with legs far apart, turn the right foot to 90 degrees to the right, turn left foot to a 45 degree angle, and bend your right knee to form a 90 degree angle with the right leg, thigh parallel to the floor. Then, stretch the arms out wide in line with the shoulders palms down turning gaze to the right hand. Breathe easy and hold pose for 10 seconds or more. Repeat on the other side. To get a more intense effect I sometimes step my feet a few more inches apart.

PRANAYAMA – Fire Breath. In Preparation for practice sit quietly with eyes closed breathing evenly through the nose. As you exhale contract your core muscles to the spine release breath completely as a Bellows. Increase the rate of your breathing cycles keeping the inhalation and exhalation equal.
